Arunachal welcomes first passenger train in state
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: The Arunachal capital was today put on the country's railway map with the first passenger train of about 400 commuters arriving at Naharlagun near here.
The train with 10 passengers and two goods compartments, towed by a diesel engine, left Dekargaon at 7 am and arrived here at 12.30 pm, covering a distance of 181 km.
"It is a great day for Arunachal Pradesh," CD Sharma, who had bought the first ticket for Naharlagun at Dekargaon railway station for Rs 35 said.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had announced introducing train service in his package for the state on January 31, 2008.
Informing about the arrival of the train, Chief Minister Nabam Tuki during an election rally here yesterday announced that Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express would be introduced soon to link Arunachal to national capital Delhi.

Lower Subansiri District SP and ARO Yachuli rushed to Yazali police station to take stock of the situation. An FIR has been lodged at Yazali police station vide Yazali case no.8/14 U/S 341/324/326/427/395 IPC in this connection and further investigation is being launched.
Additional forces have been deployed in Yazali to prevent and control the law and order situation. To maintain public peace and tranquility 144 CrPC has been imposed in the Yazali and Raga Police station limits.

Cash seizure increase to Rs 4.31 crore
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: The Election Commission appointed teams in Arunachal Pradesh today seized cash amounting to Rs. 8,36,550.
Cash apart, the static surveillance teams and flying squads have made seizure of large quantity of liquors, CGI sheets, five motorcycles, numerous posters, flags, pumphelts, caps etc today.
According to an official data prepared till today, a total amount of Rs. 4,31,90,130 have been seized so far by the EC appointed teams in the state.
DEO holds coordination meeting with AROs and sector magistrates
SEPPA, April 7: The DEO cum DC Tarin Dakpe holds coordination meeting with AROs and Sector Magistrate in DC’s chamber, Seppa today. DC briefed the role and responsibilities of AROs and Sector Magistrate and urged them to maintain proper coordination during the day of poll.
General Observer Surender Kumar suggested the Sector Magistrate to take note of the critical, Hyper sensitive and sensitive polling stations of their jurisdiction and make physical verification to these polling stations and also to ensure that whether polling team reached their respective polling station and if so, asked them to check the polling materials to see that everything is proper in all respect. He also sought to give a message from sector magistrate of each & every polling stations that “Mock Poll was carried out and voting began” during polling day. It is also to ensure that the polling team left their respective polling station after completion of polling process i.e. after 5 pm. The Sector magistrate and AROs were also asked to return back after dispatch of all polling team.

DEO seeks cooperation of political parties
AALO, Apr 07: The West Siang District Election Officer M K Sahoo called a meeting with candidates/representatives of various political parties in presence of election observers at Conference Hall of DC office on April 6.
While seeking cooperation from all parties, Sahoo laid stress on stopping the campaigning trail 48 hrs before commencement of poll as per the ECI directives. No vehicle will be used for transshipment of voter, he said. The central election observers who were present on the occasion also gave their useful tips and do and don’ts on the day of poll. Casting of votes through Postal Ballot for government employees on election duty and polling duty in the 244 polling stations under the Upper Subansiri district saw 1598 votes being cast for the parliamentary elections and 1326 for Daporijo, Raga and Dumporijo Assembly Constituencies on its last day.

KHONSA, Apr 07: The polling personnel to remote polling stations have moved to their respective polling stations today. All types of conveyances like buses, trucks, Tata Mobiles, Gypsies and other vehicles are being used to transport the polling personnel. However, many of them will have to walk on foot to reach their destinations. There are a number of difficult places with steep climbs, especially in Lazu and Dadam areas.
The polling personnel are enthusiastic about their poll duties. There were imparted training on various facets of conducting the election smoothly. All the polling personnel are accompanied by security forces in all the polling stations. The Nodal Officer, Transport has to work very hard to arrange vehicles as there is shortage of vehicles. BJP accuses Chief Minister of misusing Govt. machinery
ITANAGAR, Apr 07: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh unit today leveled series of allegation against Chief Minister Nabam Tuki and State Election Commission. Addressing the press persons at party headquarter state BJP President Tai Tagak alleged that the CM bungalow has become important place to stash Congress money and added that CM’s cavalcade is used to transfer money to various parts of state. He also hinted tacit understanding between Congress and State Election Commission.
“Chief Electoral Officer C B Kumar was commissioner to CM two months prior to being posted as chief electoral officer. Just before election huge exercise of transfer and posting of officers were done across the state. These were done at the behest of CM,” said Tagak. He further added, “Money is being carried out to various parts of state whenever CM travels in chopper. Massive amount of money is being withdrawn from banks of Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Tezpur and Lakhimpur. This money is directly taken to CM bungalow and from there distributed to rest of the state.” Those vehicles belonging to ruling party leaders are allowed to move freely while opposition candidate’s vehicles are thoroughly searched by flying squad member. “We have written to chief electoral officer in this regard” said BJP President.
The party, meanwhile, said that it has submitted an audio CD in a local dialect along with memorandum to the CEO in favour of its claim which was reportedly returned back by the CEO. “It is very unfortunate that the CEO, instead of appointing a neutral person to translate the local dialect recorded in the CD into either in Hindi or English, has returned the same asking the Party to submit the translated version of conversation recorded in the CD”, Tagak said. It is nothing but a delaying tactics to take any action against our complaint, Tagak lamented.
While expressing deep concern over recovery of Rs1.85 crore at Yazali from the vehicle of INC candidate of 16 Yachuli assembly constituency, BJP President Tagak urged election commission to disqualify the said candidate and added that party is ready to provide proof to the election commission in this regard.
BJP president further stated that despite repeated complaints regarding misuse of govt. machinery and flow of money in the state, the election commission has failed to take any action in this regard.
“Dissolving of assembly 6 months prior to actual date of election itself was conspiracy against people of state. If election commission fails to take action despite so many complaints lodged by us, then young Arunachalee citizen will lose faith on them and will think that they are part of conspiracy hatched by state government,” said Tai Tagak.
Tagak also claimed that all the Arunachalee students selected for vocational training in various parts of country in the name of job mela are not allowed to come back to participate in election process after state government issued instruction to the respective institute not to grant leave to them. BJP also took exception to the tactics of Congress party to communalize the speech of its prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. “Narendra Modi never issued threat to any person during his rally at IG Park. In fact he shared his vision of development and had only warned that wrongdoing will not be accepted. We strongly condemn such malicious act of trying to communalize the issue,” said Tagak.

BJP urged to refrain from leveling wild allegation
ITANAGAR: Apr 07: Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) today urged the BJP state unit to refrain from leveling wild allegations against the CM.
The BJP president today levelled wild, baseless and unauthenticated allegations against the CLP leader and Chief Minister Nabam Tuki accusing him of bargaining a deal to buy MLA besides using the CMO for clinching deals and distributing money, the APCC Vice President Padi Hinda said adding that when the opposition BJP is exhausted of its energy to face the ruling Congress, it has been levelling one after another concocted allegations.
“Neither the CM’s motorcade nor the chopper carrying him is exempted from checking by the election authorities. Such allegations have been levelled matching the time of end of the campaign period to send a wrong message about the ruling Congress tactfully.”
The BJP should refrain from such wild allegation or else the APCC would be forced to knock the door of justice to set the record straight, the release said.

While addressing the meeting attended by business community, public and party workers at Pasighat market, BJP candidate of 38th Pasighat East Kaling Moyong said that it is the time for the people of Pasighat to make a change to bring over all development in the area.
While highlighting the present public grievances of 38th Pasighat Assembly constituency, he said that the people of the area have been facing electricity problem since 10 years despite repeated assurance to short out the problem by political leaders.
He further said “We have sufficient water resources but there are no water to fill even a bucket of water in Pasighat area.” The another factor for this water shortage is that due to digging of ponds for amusement park and swimming pool at Pane Korong our drinking water intake point has dried up. The people of Pasighat area particularly who are using the Pane Korong water pipe line should ponder about it. In last election some of the candidate had assured supply of 24 hours drinking water to every house hold by tapping water from Siang River and other sources, but the drinking water problem is still there.
He also pointed out dilapidated Pasighat township road, colony roads and Pasighat to Rengging road and Pasighat to Yagrung road, defective recruitment policy in Govt jobs, improper land allotment policy in Pasigaht, anomalies in disbursement of Arrears of Assistant Teachers (A) and dilapidated law and order situation in an around Pasighat township, He said the law and order has been deteriorating not because of police inefficiency but because of interference of politics in the day to day routine of police.

The death of Tania, son of a Congress MLA, evoked angry reactions from people of the northeast living in the national capital who alleged police had failed to protect him.
Police had booked all the four under Section 302 (murder) of IPC after the postmortem report revealed that Tania died due to injuries to his head and face caused by a blunt object.
Initially, police had on February 3 arrested three of the accused under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989.
On February 10, police arrested Sunny and slapped murder charge on all the four accused. Two minors who also allegedly assaulted Tania are facing an inquiry before the Juvenile Justice Board here. PTI

Soon after the announcement of Parliamentary and Assembly elections, the Deputy Commissioner
of East Siang has swung into action and had directed all the officers and officials
to leave no stone unturned to ensure a free, fair and absolutely error-
The country’s future lies in the hands of young voters but drawing new young voters had always been the biggest challenge for the authority concerned. Stupendous efforts were undertaken on voters’ registration and voters’ participations throughout the district. Several electoral awareness campaigns were organized since the last year.
Recently on 25th March, an awareness rally was organized in Pasighat township followed
by pledge to vote, which was enthusiastically participated by people from all walks
of life. DEO personally had spearheaded a door to door and shop to shop awareness
campaign asking them to vote in the coming elections for healthy democracy. Randomizations

It may be inaccurate to deny that money power is simply absent in the ensuing elections which politicians often use to develop captive vote banks. DEO, the watchdog for 60.8 thousand electors is using her potent weapon in fullest strength to provide ground for us to choose the best leaders for our future. The cash and huge IMFLs seized by Flying Squads during the last few days had touched 49 Lacs cash and unaccounted bottles are the sweet fruits of her efforts. Media Certification and Monitoring Committee, Video Surveillance Team, Expenditure Monitoring Committee etc have been formed and pressed into service to check illegal or over budgeted expenditure or ‘Paid News’ etc. So many senior and experienced IAS/IRS officers as observers are closely monitoring every development and tirelessly guiding in the election process to protect the democratic right of the citizens. Unlike in the past, political parties have absolutely failed to influence the commoners in distributing liquors, cash or gifts. They also failed to mislead the voters with their attractive banners, posters, community feasts and other offers. Electoral malpractices of different varieties can hardly be seen these days when ECI has put mechanisms in place to ensure free, fair and peaceful poll. Contesting candidates have to win the heart of the voters with their achievements, missions and visions.

I lost my wallet while returning from Seppa on 2nd April, 2014 while night journeying
